Friday 30th Sep:
I filmed the project using my mobile phone. I had planned to use a college camera but there wasn't any available until the Friday - which was the day I was going. In future I plan to use college equipment as I have been unable to edit the footage on my phone
I filmed five different five second clips of life in Skegness for the people that live there and people that are regular holiday makers there. Each clip shows different aspects of life there and what there is to do for people that are there on holiday or on a short break.
1. Beach - wide shot of the beach. People were silhouetted because of the sun which was shining in shot
2. Train - whilst on the train I got a shot from the window. This shot is to establish the journey to Skegness
3. Arcade - I did a tilt-pan shot of the arcade. I tilted the camera from the arcade name down into the arcade. Again, this was designed to establish the arcade.
4. On the beach I searched for sea creatures. I did this as I wanted to show the differences between the seaside and the midlands.
I filmed a shot of a crab that was upside down on the sand. Water was running over it and the sun was shining over it.
I also shot a starfish - there was no particular reason why I did this, except that I thought it looked nice.
5. My final shot was of the sand - I wrote my name on the beach and placed a tray of fish and chips next to it.
The use of fish and chips in the shot is because it is a traditional English meal that you usually associate with going to the seaside.
The name in the sand was inspired by the fact that many people do it on their holiday photos. It was also something that they used to do on the TV programme 'Wish You Were Here'
The filming took all day - I had planned to do this as a number of things change during a day at the seaside:
Tide in/tide out
Sunshine/Night Lights
Busy/Quiet
Fair closed/fair open
